GRADES K-4* and GRADES 5-8
Reading Youth Wrestling introduces children to the exciting sport of wrestling. This three-month program (22 practices, 3 scrimages, 5 dual meets and at least 2 tournaments) incorporates games, conditioning and instruction as a means of teaching the fundamentals of wrestling. It is open to children in grades K-8. Participants are divided into groups based on age, weight, experience and ability. Practices begin at the end of November and are held two days per week from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM until February vacation (based on age group). Children should wear "gym clothes" for practices and dual meets, but may be required to wear a singlet, wrestling shoes and headgear in tournaments. There will be many opportunities to compete against other teams throughout the season as well as in tournaments at the end of the season.
*Children in Grades K-4 must have a parent or guardian present during practices, tournaments, and dual meets.
