FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-5 AND GRADES 6-8
The Recreation Division will once again offer the Nashoba Valley Ski and Snowboard program as a 4-week program. This will help make the program more affordable and less of a time commitment for our middle school families!
Middle School for Grades 6-8
Reading Middle School students in grades 6–8 can now enjoy four weeks of skiing or snowboarding at nearby NASHOBA VALLEY Ski Area in Westford, MA. Students can participate in lessons at a variety of levels. Rentals are also available for those students who need equipment. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Program begins on TUESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2011. Pick-up will take place at both the Coolidge Middle School and the Parker Middle School after school each week.
Elementary School for Grades 3-5
Reading Elementary School students in grades 3-5 can enjoy four weeks of skiing or snowboarding at nearby NASHOBA VALLEY Ski Area in Westford, MA. Students can participate in lessons at a variety of levels. Rentals are also available for those students who need equipment. Registration is accepted on first-come, first-serve basis. Program begins on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2011. Transportation from individual elementary schools to this site will not be provided. End students may choose which bus they would like to ride - switching buses will not be allowed).
FEE: $230 (Lift, Lesson and Transportation)

NOTE: Parents please understand that the nature of this program requires participants to behave independently without constant adult supervision. A minimum of four (4) parent volunteer monitors and four (4) paid chaperones are needed for each trip (15:1 children to chaperone ratio). Nashoba Valley Ski Area staff is not included in this ratio. If you are interested in volunteering as a monitor or working as a chaperone, please call Jim Sullivan at (781) 942-9075.
*Both programs will run for four (4) consecutive weeks. If the programs are forced to run into late March, cancelled sessions can't be made up and refunds will not be granted by either the Reading Recreation Division or NASHOBA VALLEY SKI AREA.
RENTING EQUIPMENT
A separate rental night will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd at 7:00 PM at the Birch Meadow School. Ski Rental Corp. will fit renters for their equipment. All rentals fees are paid directly to the Ski Rental Corp. at the Pre-Fit Night.
Ski and Snowboard Rental Package Fee at Reading Pre-Fit Night: $75
Helmets can be rented for $40.
Parents must take their child to Nashoba Valley Ski Area for rentals if the Pre-Fit Night is missed. All questions regarding rentals may be directed to Nashoba Valley Ski Area at (978) 692-3033.
SKIING/SNOWBOARDING
REFUND POLICY
Full refunds, less a $10 administrative fee, will only be granted up until November 18, 2010. After this time, full refunds will only be granted in the case of injury or illness. A doctor's note may be required. No additions to the program can be made after December 16, 2010.
