REGISTRATION INFORMATION
ENROLLMENT POLICY: The Recreation Division programs are offered to Reading and Non-Reading residents unless otherwise noted in the program description. Programs in high demand will give priority to Reading residents and students currently enrolled in the Reading Public School system. At the Recreation Administrator’s discretion, some Recreation-sponsored events may only be open to Reading residents.
PAYMENT: All checks are made payable to the Town of Reading unless otherwise indicated in the program description. Cash, VISA, MasterCard and Discover are also accepted. Please do not mail cash. Full payment must accompany registration unless otherwise stated in the brochure. For payment plan information contact the Recreation Division. Payment plans are for Reading Residents.
REFUNDS: The Recreation Division must meet instructional and other overhead costs. Refunds for Reading Recreation Division Run Programs will be granted according to the individual requirements of the programs. Please see the program description for a more specific refund policy, if applicable. For events such as trips and special events, refunds will not be granted. Refunds will be granted in the case of illness or injury. A doctor's note may be required. The Recreation Division must be notified, prior to the second class, if you are requesting a refund. Refunds will be given, if the Recreation Division due to low enrollment, cancels a program. A $10 administrative fee will be assessed to all refunds including the case of injury
or illness, excluding those programs that are cancelled by the Recreation Division.
COURSE CANCELLATION: Classes that do not attain the minimum enrollment will be cancelled 48 hours prior to the scheduled start date. Full tuition will be refunded. We reserve the right to reschedule or change classes. You will be called if your class is cancelled, otherwise, plan on attending.
COURSE CONFIRMATION: Reading Recreation DOES NOT PROVIDE CONFIRMATIONS for faxed/mailed in program registrations. If you use one of these methods to register, you can contact the Recreation Division office to confirm that your registration has been received. You will be called if a class is filled and you will be placed on a waiting list. Otherwise, plan on attending.
MAKE-UP CLASSES: All attempts will be made to reschedule classes that have been cancelled due to inclement weather or instructor absence. Reading Recreation is not responsible for making up classes that are missed due to the participant’s inability to attend.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: All classes (day and evening) will be cancelled when Reading Public Schools are closed. In the event that we need to cancel evening or weekend events, it will be listed on Channel 5 TV (WCVB).
FILLED CLASSES: You are urged to register as soon as possible. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not ”hold” spots. If your class is filled, you will be placed on a waiting list. We will try to offer additional classes whenever possible.
PARTICIPANT PHOTOGRAPH POLICY: Periodically, the Recreation Division photographs/videotapes program participants for promotional use. Unless the participant/guardian informs us of their desire to not be photographed, the Recreation Department will use photographs/videotapes for their promotional purposes.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available to Reading Residents for all Recreation programs. Please contact the Recreation Division for details.
