Scenic Road Information
Reading has three ways designated as Scenic Roads, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40 Section 15C and the Town of Reading's General By-Laws. The following ways have been designated as Scenic:
South Street, between Main and Walnut Streets;
Walnut Street, between Hopkins Street and Pine Ridge Road; and
Mill Street, from Main Street to the North Reading Town line at the Ipswich River.
Any construction, alteration, tree removal, driveway modifications and repair work performed in the right of way on a designated scenic road are subject to the Town's General By-Laws and Community Planning & Development Commission's (CPDC) Scenic Road regulations which require a public hearing.
