The Property Tax Work Program was established to assist seniors that have difficulty paying their Property Tax. If you are interested in a tax abatement to help pay your property taxes, consider applying to be a Property Tax Worker. You may receive up to $1,000.00 per year, which will be applied to your property taxes.
What you need to know:
Priority will be given to residents age 65 and older. Extenuating financial circumstances will be seriously considered for residents age 62 and older.
Reading residents must own and occupy the property for which they are requesting help.
To participate, a single person income can be up to $46,300 or a couple’s can be up to $52,950.
Present a copy of Reading tax notice and a copy of prior year's IRS form
Placements are based on the skills and interests of the applicant and the needs of Elder/Human Services and other Town departments.
Acceptance to the program is subject to the income guidelines and the ability to place the applicant in available positions.
