The Linnaea Thellin Bird Sanctuary is a 12 acre site located in the western part of the Town (between the railroad tracks, Hancock Street, and Summer Ave). At the end of Hancock Street, a dead end, there is an entrance noted by a carved sign.
Maps show a path from the entrance which runs parallel to the railroad. Unfortunately the paved part of the path has collapsed, but it is still passable. Very little of the path remains, and if you do decide to venture in there, please be careful of poison ivy and numerous thorny bushes. There are many small, nice spots where you can stand and look around at the birds and a variety of flowers. The area off of the path is mostly wetlands, making extensive travel in
this conservation land difficult.
