Kurchian Woods

kurch2.jpgKurchian  Woods is a 44 acre site located between Franklin St. and Main St. There  are four entrances: one is off of Franklin St, next to  Kurchian St; a second is behind a house on Brentwood  Drive; a third is off of Fairchild Dr; and the fourth is at the end  of Brentwood Ave.

The trails within Kurchian go  through thick forest. There is a boardwalk over the swamp at the Franklin St. entrance which leads to several trails suitable  for hiking. The long, wide field which passes  through the area is due to the Tenneco gas line which passes through this area. Additionally, the Sledge Woods site can be accessed from Kurchian via a trail by the western end of the gas line.

kurch3.jpgBoth the flora and fauna in this area are quite  diverse, and great for observation. Animal tracks are also a frequent sight.
