The purpose of the WSHDC is to administer the West St. Local Historic District. The District was created to preserve and protect the distinctive characteristics and architecture of the West St. area, to maintain and improve the settings of the buildings within the District, and to encourage bulding
design that is compatible with the buildings existing in the District, so as to maintain the historic character of the area.
